Who is Linus Torvalds?

Linus Torvald is a Finnish software engineer who was studied at the University of Helsinki, while doing his project on Unix he mystically developed an operating system name, Linux similar to MINIX a UNIX operating system. In 1991 he released version 0.02, Version 1.0 of the Linux kernel, the core of the operating system, was released in 1994.

How Linux was founded and why it's free?

When Linus Torvalds, the creator of the Linux kernel, wanted to give a name to his kernel Freax, Ari instead gave him a folder called “Linux” to upload his kernel too. The Linux name came from “Linus Minix” which was the operating system Linus was trying to replace for himself

Why Linux is free?

Linux is an Open-source Operating-System that is similar to UNIX. It is an Open-source Operating System that comes under GNU General Public License which is handover to the public to use it. It gives all rights to us like Anyone can use, study, modify, and redistribute the source code, or even sell copies of their modified code, as long as they do so under the same license.

Linux is better than windows?

Many of you just thinking that why use Linux if we have software like windows and mac.

Yes, Linux does not look user-friendly operating system but it can manage any service or software more accurately and properly than any Windows or Mac machine.

Just see an example, NASA or SpaceX use satellites to study space, planets and many more. They use Linux Operating System to manage their satellite from earth because they know that if they use Windows or Mac system then they are not able to make an independent project they have to approach and pay higher to Microsoft or Apple for managing these machines, also there is no guarantee that this machines will run for a long time like any Linux or Unix machine because they have less load then both of them.

Do you know that if NASA use Windows except for Linux then they may have to restart their satellite every 15 to 30 days!

Why does Linux os is free and Windows and Mac costs much higher?

Linux is not managed by one company it is managed by a community that is based on GNU General Public Licence. But in the case of Windows and macOS, the case is much different because it is developed for-profit motive.

Linux is completely free to access, free to read, and free to change. You can make your own Linux itself by reading its codes and making some changes to it. But in Windows and macOS we see that Microsoft does not allow us to read their codes to make or change windows Same with Mac apple doesn't allow us to change it. If we make a copy with some changes then it is known as pirated copy and Microsoft or apple can easily take an action against us because they have that kind of right.

But in Linux, we see that because of a General Public Licence anyone can access it and anyone can change its codes even anyone can make their own Linux Software by using their codes, no one can able to stop you because it is an Opensource software.
